STEM fun!

I sent an email earlier in the week, telling you about our storybook STEMS we will be doing each week for the rest of the year.
We concluded our week with our first STEM this morning and it was SO much FUN!
The challenge was to create a sailboat that can be moved by wind with out turning over. We learned vocabulary like buoyancy, capsize, mast and hull.
They knew their boats needed to float, be sturdy, strong, and balanced.
They worked in teams of 3 or 4 and I am so proud of how they synergized and communicated with each other.
Here are some pictures of our projects!

Spelling Practice

The kids love to use whiteboards to practice their spelling words!

Data Charts

We use personal data binders and classroom charts to track our learning data.
Here are a couple examples of charts that we use for Math and reading.
Addition and Subtraction data for each student.
They each have a number and add a sticker as they test out.
